They have already fluttered in the wind on the Gotthard Pass, the Lake of Geneva, or in the Canton of Glarus. Now more than 100 flags adorn Tower 1 in Biel. Old Swiss flags have been collected from all over Switzerland and are now exhibited together in the exhibition Tower 1 > 100 Flags. Each flag is different and tells its own story. With a wink, the exhibition shows that Switzerland is not always as clean as it appears, but on the other hand has much character.
The company Steiner Sarnen Schweiz AG travelled through the country with four teams. Over mountain roads and passes. Steep bends up to the summits and daring descents down into the valleys. Within four days, they had collected 120 Swiss flags. Blown by the wind, bleached by the sun and labelled with their origin, they were soon hanging together in the tower on the Arteplage Biel-Bienne. Each individual flag told its very own story.
