The Helix was a metal/wood construction in a free elliptical shape. It rose at 6%, spanned the Towers and reached the 12.00 metre high Bridge (ship passage) after 220.00 metres. The maximum pile load of 50 tonnes was decisive for the column width. For cost reasons, the Helix was not supported with individual piles, but with scaffolding directly on the Forum. Consequently, individual zones were closed to the public so as not to exceed the total load.
