Broye Canal

Rotary Bridge

With the fascinating wooden structure of the Rotary Bridge, the Expo.02 cycle path and skating network, and thus the entire cycle path network in Switzerland, has experienced a significant increase in attractiveness and improvement.

The Rotary Bridge has multiple symbolic content:

Symbol of youth
The preliminary project was designed by three students from the Swiss College of Woodworking as part of their final year project.

Symbol of recreational sport
The bridge is open to walkers, cyclists, skaters and, thanks to the wheelchair-accessible ramps, also to people with physical disabilities.

Symbol for Switzerland
Connecting two language regions and a work of solidarity.

Symbol of sustainability
The bridge is made of wood, the only renewable resource in our country.

The 60.00 metre clear span and 250.00 metre long bridge over the Broye Canal - the link between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten - near the Waadt/Fribourg/Bern cantonal triangle was built on the initiative of and with donations from the Rotary Clubs of Switzerland.
