Arteplages
Expo.02 was located on the linguistic border between German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland: in the Three-Lakes Region with the towns of Biel-Bienne, Murten-Morat, Neuchâtel and Yverdon-les-Bains as the venues. The four permanent exhibition centres were located on the banks of the lake and were called Arteplages.
The expression Arteplage combines the words Art and Plage (French for beach) and refers to the structures in which the exhibitions are embedded. The exhibition sites on the shores of the lakes of Biel-Bienne, Murten-Morat and Neuchatel are each divided into two sections: the exhibition park (Expopark) on the shore and the forum on the water. The fifth Arteplage – the Arteplage Mobile du Jura – complements the Arteplages of Neuchatel, Yverdon-les-Bains, Biel-Bienne and Murten-Morat, anchoring at the four fixed sites in turn.
