Natural gas buses
The project by AMAG and the Swiss natural gas supply companies was supported by EnergieSchweiz (a joint programme of the federal government, cantons, municipalities, industry and environmental associations).
AMAG provided Expo.02 with 24 natural gas minibuses of the Carawelle and Transporter types for use and the Swiss natural gas supply companies provided the fuel and refuelling station infrastructure for the Expo.02 project I drive clean.
The natural gas minibuses were used instead of petrol vehicles for a wide range of transport needs between the four Arteplages Biel-Bienne, Murten-Morat. Neuchâtel and Yverdon-les-Bains. On average, each of the 24 minibuses travelled 12'500 km to transport disabled people, small groups, Expo.02 staff and artists as well as materials. A total of 21'800 kg of natural gas was refuelled at the natural gas filling stations at the four Arteplage sites. This is the equivalent of around 33'000 litres of petrol.
