On 15 May 23 years ago, Expo.02 opened its doors and transformed the Three Lakes Region into Switzerland's cultural centre for 159 days. With 39 exhibitions and over 13,500 events, the national exhibition offered a unique experience. Even though most of the Arteplages buildings disappeared again after Expo.02, some of their pavilions continue to exist in new locations with new functions. “What remains are countless wonderful memories in the minds of visitors,” says Ralph Ammann, President of the Association of Expo.02 Alumni. To preserve these memories, the association has launched the virtual archive www.ex-expo.ch.
